Wrapped in the wind

The wind always nestles close up beside me.
The wind accepts me just the way I am.
The wind carries me where I want to go.

I always want to feel the wind.

Fuppu means cloth the wind. Taking inspiration from Japan’s beautiful natural environment,
our artisans dye each individual fabric so that they delicately reflect the colors of nature.

ABOUT FUPPU

オーロラ染め

Aurora dyeing is a technique named after the beautiful color gradations it produces resembling the patterns of the Aurora. Unlike normal multi-color dyeing techniques, which dye with one color at a time in multiple stages, Aurora dyeing is performed using all the colors at once, a method referred to as “one bath multi-color dyeing”.

「風布」について

Fuppu is situated in a hilly area surrounded by mountains, to the west of Yorii in Saitama Prefecture. The name is said to derive from the fact that the warm winds which blow down from the mountains appear to pull at pieces of cloth which have been hung out. Because of the mild climate, many varieties of flowers bloom throughout the year, and the region has also been described as an earthly paradise.

Kinu no ie

In 1937, Inosuke Yoshida, the grandfather of the current management generation, established the company as a production site of wholesale fabrics used in kimono linings. Then, in 1989, the father of the current management generation, Masaharu Yoshida, perfected “Aurora Dyeing”, a proprietary technique variation of the “one bath multi-color dyeing method” developed by the Chichibu’s fiber research institute. Currently, led by CEO Masahiro Yoshida, the company has established its new “Fuppu” brand, to promote “Aurora Dyeing” as a new direction for dyeing, and is working on product development.
